A lot of discussion in the keratoconus blogs I am a part of talk about how frustrating it is to not be able to see, even with glasses. People who do not have keratoconus don't understand why these patients are unable to use glasses to see well. Why they need special contact lenses. PREPARATION! Contact lens wearers are more prone to comfort issues with their eyes secondary to dry eye. The reason is because with a contact lens, the tear film on the eye is split into two (half of the tears go behind, and half go in front of the lens). Yesterday, an article was released by the Washington Post detailing futuristic contact lenses that dispense medication while you wear them. The design of the lens is a clear center that can correct for your prescription, along with a ring on the periphery of the lens that has a film that dispenses medication.
